Laura was not very helpful online, in fact she was very snarky. There was was nothing that indicated I would be charged $35 for a rude representative that ended up having to call me because she was so horrible online.

You advertise as FREE but I ended up paying $132.48 to file my taxes. The system will not allow you to proceed until you "agree" to pay. That is a scam.

On the one hand, I resented having to pay to e-file my taxes from overseas. On the other hand, TaxAct made it easy to receive a complete refund on my state taxes, so in the end, I make out financially.

The ai chat robot was super helpful explaining and answering any questions I had as well as the website being super easy to navigate and walk through. Hopefully everything goes well because this was my first year filing taxes but if it does, I will definitely use this website again.

I FINALLY FIGURED OUT ON MY OWN HOW TO FILE MY TAXES. THEY WERE CIMPLETED AND SENT ON 4/15/2026 BUT FINALLY ACCEPTED TODAY. THIS PROGRAM IS NOT USER FRIENDLY AT ALL.

Overall it was a decent experience. However, I can't agree with them justifying charging me for self-employed state tax prep when I worked in another state briefly and was not self-employed there (only got a W-2).
