Whether you need to complete a previously-started prior year return or prepare a new one, you can access or create your return using our TaxAct Online program.

. Returns created before 2016 are no longer available.

If you need a copy of a return prior to 2016 completed using TaxAct Online you will need to contact the IRS at 1.800.829.1040.  You may also contact your state (if applicable) to request a copy of the state return.  You may find your state contact information here.

You will need to know the tax year, username, and password used when you registered the account. If you forgot your username or password, click the Forgot Username or Password? link on the sign in screen.

Since TaxAct Desktop returns are stored on your local computer, we do not have access to your return file(s). We encourage you to save your return(s) on a removable media drive (thumb drive or CD-ROM) and store an additional back up copy elsewhere. If you no longer have access to your return, you will need to request a copy from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) or state tax agency.

If you had used TaxAct Online to prepare a return prior to tax year 2014, these are no longer available to access through TaxAct.
