Form 5695 - Energy Star Federal Tax Credits for Energy Efficiency

Energy Star is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy. See the Energy Star Federal Income Tax Credits and Other Incentives for Energy Efficiency website for information regarding the credits available for 2020 tax returns. These credits are available in the TaxAct program.

To enter information for the residential energy credits:

  1. From within your TaxAct return (Online or Desktop), click Federal. On smaller devices, click in the upper left-hand corner, then click Federal.
  2. Click Other Credits in the Federal Quick Q&A Topics menu to expand, then click Residential energy credit.
  3. Continue with the interview process to enter all of the appropriate information.

Note. The Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018 extended the credits in Part I of Form 5695 Residential Energy Credits until 2021 as told in the instructions for Form 5695.
