Donation Assistant is a useful way to calculate the Fair Market Value (FMV) of donated items, such as items donated to Goodwill, Salvation Army, or any other charitable or non-profit organizations. This calculator provides certified resale values for over 1,300 items, so you can accurately determine the value of your donated items and maximize your deduction.

Follow the steps below to locate and use Donation Assistant to determine the value of your donated items.

1. From within your TaxAct® return (Online or Desktop) click Federal.
2. Click Itemized or Standard Deductions in the Federal Quick Q&A Topics menu to expand the category, then click Charitable contributions
3. Continue to the Did you make any noncash contributions? screen and click Yes. 
4. Click Donation Assistant to import and calculate the value of your items.
