Professional Editions: Client Portals - File Approval Requests (Firm/Preparer)

  1. In TaxAct Pro, click the Portals tab.
    • Alternatively, log in to My Account and click Client Portals.
  2. Click the Clients tab.
  3. Locate the client in the list and click once to open their Portal details.
    • Tip: You can use the Search bar or click a column header to sort.
  4. Click the Client Files tab.
  5. Click To Client, then click Upload File.
  6. Select and open the file.
  7. Select Send Email and add a message to the client, if needed.
  8. Toggle Request Approval and select an approval type from the drop list:
    • Proposal
    • Draft Return
    • Other
  9. Select a year from the What year is this approval for? drop list.
  10. Click Upload. The window refreshes to show that the file was uploaded and displays the Needs Approval status.
  11. Once the taxpayer completes their review, the status updates to Approved or Rejected.
