Professional Editions: Client Portals - Request Files (Firm/Preparer)

The Request Files feature sends an email to the client with a secure link they can use to upload files directly to the To [Company Name] folder without logging in to their portal. The link can only be used one time; however, the client can upload as many files as needed during that upload session. Once the browser window is closed, the client must either log in to the portal to upload more files or receive another request link.

  1. In TaxAct Pro, click the Portals tab.
  2. Alternatively, log in to My Account and click Client Portals.
  3. Click the Clients tab.
  4. Locate the client in the list and click once to open their Portal details.
  5. You can use the Search bar or click a column header to sort.
  6. On the right, choose the first hamburger icon and click Request Files.
  7. On the Request Files pop-up, enter a message, if needed, and click Submit.
  8. A notice displays along the bottom that says File request sent to client.
  9. Once the client has uploaded a file, you will receive an email notification. To retrieve the files, log in to Drake Portals and navigate to the client's To [Company Name] folder.
