New Portal

To add a new portal for your client (taxpayer), follow these steps:

  1. In TaxAct Pro, click the Portals tab.
    • Alternatively, log into My Account and click Client Portals.
  2. Click the Clients tab.
  3. Click Add Client on the right.
  4. Enter the client’s details in the Add Client window.
    • If this is a business client, enable that option and the entry fields will change from individual to business information.
    • If you toggle Send activation email off, the client will not receive an activation email. You can send one later.
  5. Click Save.

Activation Email

To send an activation email after creating a new client, follow these steps. This option can be used if you previously turned off Send activation email.

  1. In TaxAct Pro, click the Portals tab.
    • Alternatively, log into My Account and click Client Portals.
  2. Click the Clients tab.
  3. Locate the client in the list and click once to open their Portal details.
    • Tip: Use the Search bar or click a column header to sort.
  4. Near the top right, click the hamburger menu and choose Activation Email.
  5. A notification briefly appears at the bottom of the window confirming the email was sent.

Edit Client

To edit a Client Portals account, follow these steps:

  1. In TaxAct Pro, click the Portals tab.
    • Alternatively, log into My Account and click Client Portals.
  2. Click the Clients tab.
  3. Locate the client in the list and click once to open their Portal details.
    • Tip: Use the Search bar or click a column header to sort.
  4. Near the top right, click the hamburger menu and choose Edit Client.
    • This function does not edit the client’s return information in TaxAct Pro.
  5. When you have finished making your changes, click Save.

Delete Client

To delete a client’s Portals account, follow these steps:

  1. In TaxAct Pro, click the Portals tab.
    • Alternatively, log into My Account and click Client Portals.
  2. Click the Clients tab.
  3. Locate the client in the list and click once to open their Portal details.
    • Tip: Use the Search bar or click a column header to sort.
  4. Near the top right, click the hamburger menu and choose Delete Client.
    • This function does not remove the client’s return from TaxAct Pro.
  5. A verification window is displayed. Click Delete to continue.

View as Client

If you want to see what your client’s (taxpayer’s) Client Portal looks like, follow these steps:

  1. In TaxAct Pro, click the Portals tab.
    • Alternatively, log into My Account and click Client Portals.
  2. Click the Clients tab.
  3. Locate the client in the list and click once to open their Portal details.
    • Tip: Use the Search bar or click a column header to sort.
  4. Near the top right, click the hamburger menu and choose View as Client.
  5. The Client Portal opens in a separate browser window.
  6. All options are disabled because you are in view-only mode.
  7. Close the browser window to end your viewing session.
