Requesting Unlock Code

You will be prompted for an unlock code if you are using the Free Federal Edition of the software and are attempting to access a TaxACT Deluxe only feature. To continue using the Free Federal Edition (without using the Deluxe only features), you can just click the cancel or unlock later button when you are asked for the unlock code.

To explain, the unlock code is used if you have downloaded the Free Federal Edition and wish to upgrade to the Deluxe Edition. If you decide to upgrade to Deluxe from the Free Federal Edition version, you can place an order by calling our Sales line at 1-800-573-4287 or you may also order via our website. Once your order is placed, you will receive an unlock code.

This eliminates the need to download another version, and all your return information from Free Federal Edition is automatically transferred into the Deluxe Edition.
