Data entry errors are the most common cause of rejections. Carefully review all entries related to your rejection to avoid further problems.

Most rejections are due to:

After correcting errors, print your return and review it before resubmitting. Then repeat the Filing steps to resubmit your return.

How to handle payment of TaxAct fees when resubmitting:

  • If you resubmit with the same Social Security Number (SSN) or Employer Identification Number (EIN), you will not be billed. You may be prompted for your credit card number, but you will not receive an additional charge, in most cases. If you do receive a duplicate charge, contact Customer Care for a refund.
  • If you resubmit with a different Social Security Number (SSN) or Employer Identification Number (EIN), you will need to pay the fee. But you can request your original charge refunded through Customer Care.
