Install/Update a State - TaxAct Online

Because the TaxAct® Online program resides on our servers, there is no need to run program updates or install software to your computer. Any updates to the program are done on our servers and no additional action is required on your part.

To add a state to your return after completing the Federal Q&A:

  1. On the screen titled Should we continue to your state tax return?, click Continue.
  2. If you are not taken to this screen, click State in the left column and then click Add State.
  3. If you have already added a state to your return, click Continue to proceed through the Q&A interview questions for each state in alphabetical order, or click the name of the state under the State menu in the left column to jump to a specific state's interview questions. To add another state to your return, click Add State.
