E-Filing - Charges for Resubmitting
1

When resubmitting a return after it was initially rejected, you will be prompted for a credit/debit card number even if you already entered it during your first submission.

You will not be double-charged as long as:

  • the primary identification number hasn't changed - Social Security Number (SSN) for personal tax returns or Employer Identification Number (EIN) for business tax returns
  • the TaxAct product used does not change

If you do need to change the primary SSN or EIN due to an initial entry error, the logic in our billing process identifies it as an additional return and therefore does charge again.

If this happens, the most efficient method for getting your return submitted is to allow the charge to process so the return will go through. You can then contact our support center during our business hours to request a refund of the charge associated with the rejected return.
