Sign-In Instructions (Online or Desktop)

Online Sign In
  1. Go to Sign In
  2. Enter your username. 
  3. Select Remember this device if using a private device. 
  4. Click Sign in
  5. Complete the ReCAPTCHA. 
  6. Enter your password and click Continue
  7. Enter the verification code to complete sign-in. See Related Links for details.
NOTE: You must use the online sign in to manage or update account information, even if you use the desktop app to prepare your return.
Desktop App Sign In
  1. Open the TaxAct program.
  2. Enter your Username and Password.
  3. Click Remember this device (if on a trusted computer).
  4. Click Agree and Sign In.
  5. Complete the reCAPTCHA. 
  6. Enter a verification code, if prompted. See Related Links for details.
If Remember this device was checked when you previously logged in on this computer/browser, you may not be prompted to enter a verification code to complete sign in. If you clear your browser's cookies, cache, or history, your device won’t be recognized anymore, so you’ll need to enter a verification code the next time you sign in. If you want to skip that step in the future, be sure to re-select Remember this device.

 We take account protection seriously, and will email you when:
  • You sign in to your TaxAct Account for the first time on a different computer, phone, or browser.
  • Your IP address has been changed by your internet provider (meaning your location might have changed).
If you’re aware of the sign-in change, no action is required. If you receive an email about a new sign in that is not you, sign in to your TaxAct Account online and update your information. See Manage or Update Account Information (Name, Address, Username, or Password) for details.
