ACA Explanation Statement - Entry into TaxAct
1
The IRS may reject your tax return if you did not include information about your Advanced Premium Tax Credit on IRS Form 8962 from the federal healthcare marketplace. This occurs when the IRS database shows that you should have provided this information (whether this is accurate or not).

If you did receive Form 1095-A showing Advanced Premium Tax Credit, add the information to your return by following the steps in FAQ Form 1095-A - Entering Health Insurance Marketplace Statement in Program.

If you were issued Form 1095-A in error, you may obtain a corrected or voided copy of the form by contacting the Marketplace directly. Save that form as a PDF, then attach it using the steps below.

If you did not receive Form 1095-A, but are seeing this rejection, first confirm that APTC was not paid to your Marketplace health insurance company for any member of your family during the tax year. Then,
  • write a brief explanation of why you are not required to submit Form 8962 with your tax return,
  • save that letter as a PDF file,
  • attach the PDF to your e-filed return (steps below).

PDF Info
There is a 3MB (2MB for desktop) total attachment limitation. If you have multiple PDF attachments for your return, be sure that the total size is below this limitation.
*If the screen is blank or the file does not upload, the PDF is likely too large, and you will need to decrease the file size and attempt to attach it again. Double-check that the file is indeed a PDF.
