If the IRS e-file database indicates that you must complete Form 8962 because your health insurance was obtained through a Marketplace, please visit healthcare.gov to confirm that you or someone on your tax return had Marketplace coverage. Then follow one of the options below to review and correct your entries:

If you had Marketplace coverage:

    1. Log into your return.
    2. Click Federal.
    3. Click Health Insurance from the list of topics.
    4. Complete the Q&A to enter the information about your marketplace coverage.
    5. Once complete, click Filing and go through the steps to resubmit your return.

If you did not have Marketplace coverage:

    1. Log into your return.
    2. Click Federal.
    3. Click Miscellaneous Topics from the list of topics.
    4. Click Additional Information for E-Filing.
    5. Click ACA Explanation and then check the box indicating Form 8962 is not required to be attached to this return.
    6. Click Filing and go through the steps to resubmit your return. During the filing steps, you will be required to attach the pdf statement explaining why Form 8962 is not required.
