COVID-19: Stimulus Registration Causing Return Rejection
1

The IRS only allows a taxpayer to file one return per tax year. If you completed a Stimulus Registration return for 2019, additional e-file submissions will be rejected.

If a dependent that you want to claim files through the stimulus portal before you file, your return will be rejected.

To properly report your tax information to the IRS, you will need to file an amended return.

State tax agencies will also reject e-files for these reasons. If your state return is being rejected, you will need to complete an amended state return.
