To change your filing status from "Married Filing Joint" to "Head of Household" after importing, you will need to remove any spousal information from your return.
To remove the Social Security Number (SSN):
From within your TaxAct return (Online or Desktop), click Federal. On smaller devices, click in the upper left-hand corner, then click Federal.
Click Basic Information in the Federal Quick Q&A Topics menu to expand, then click Filing status.
Select Single, then click Continue.
Continue with the interview process to verify whether all spousal information has been removed.
