Printing Your Return and Individual Forms

The print process will generate a Portable Document Format (PDF) file which can be viewed, printed, or saved. You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed.

Online program users

:

For the security of your personal information, a printed or digital copy of your TaxAct Online return is available only by signing into your account and printing or saving it yourself. We can’t mail, fax, or email a paper or electronic copy. For help with username or password, go to the sign-in page.



Desktop/download users

:

To print your return or individual forms, you must have the TaxAct program and return file on your computer. If you no longer have the return file, contact the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 to request a copy. TaxAct does not retain copies of returns that were prepared and e-filed with the TaxAct Desktop program.



Online return printing:

  1. From within your TaxAct Online return , click Print Center down the left to expand, then click Return. On smaller devices, click in the upper left-hand corner, then choose Print Center.
  2. Enter the number of Federal and/or State copies you would like to print or save.
  3. Click the printer icon, the save icon, or the download icon (available when you hover your mouse over the PDF form).

Online individual forms printing:

  1. From within your TaxAct Online return, click Print Center down the left to expand, then click Custom Print.
  2. Check the items you want to print (You may need to scroll down in the section to locate the items), then click Print.
  3. Click the PDF link.
  4. Click the Printer icon, the Save icon, or the Download icon (available when you hover your mouse over the PDF form).

What if I get a message that says my return fees haven't been paid?

  1. Click the View/Pay your return fees link.
  2. Follow the paper filing steps.
  3. Continue through the steps until the unpaid fee is processed.
  4. Repeat the same steps to print.

Desktop/download return printing:

  1. Click Print on the toolbar, then click Return - or go to the top page menu, click File, then click Print Return.
  2. Enter the number of copies, then click Print.
  3. Click Select printer (if necessary, to change the printer).
  4. Choose Settings, then click OK.
  5. Click Print (you can also save as PDF and print later).

OR: You can print your return from the filing section with the mail paper return option. Follow the instructions in the program.

Desktop individual forms printing:

  1. Click Forms on the toolbar and double-click the form you want to print.
  2. The correct form will display in the right-hand pane.
  3. Click the Print icon in the Forms toolbar.

OR:

  1. Click File from the main menu.
  2. From the drop-down, click Custom Print.
  3. Select Custom.
  4. Check the forms to print.
  5. Click Print.

Recommendation:

If you are mailing your return to the IRS, you should print your return, schedules, and other attachments on standard 8x11 paper. Printing on another size and then cutting the paper may cause problems with processing your return.
