Preparer - Instruction Letter for Pro Client - Mail or E-File

To choose paper filing or e-filing on Federal or State Client Instruction Letter:

  1. From within your TaxAct Professional Edition program, on the Client Manager screen, Double-click your client to open their return.
  2. Click Preparer in the upper menu bar, then hover your mouse over Instruction LetterEdit Client Copy, then click Federal to view the letter in Forms View (for the state client instruction letter, hover your mouse over State instead of clicking Federal, then click the state).
  3. Under the Indicate how this return will be filed bullet point, click the Checkbox next to If return is e-filed, enter the date of file, or If a paper return will be filed, do not enter e-file date (above) to indicate paper filing.
  4. Fill out the rest of the applicable information for the option you chose, if necessary.

Print Client Instruction Letter:

  1. From within your TaxAct Professional Edition program, on the Client Manager screen, Double-click your client to open their return.
  2. Click Print in the options bar, and in the window that appears, type to indicate at least one copy next to Federal Instruction Letter or State Instruction Letter, then click Print.
  3. A print dialog box appears, so you can choose what printer to use and more options.  Click Ok when you are ready to print.

Print Client Instruction Letter while e-filing:

  1. From within your TaxAct Professional Edition program, on the Client Manager screen, Double-click your client to open their return.
  2. Click Q&A in the options bar, then click Filing.  Click the Circle next to E-File, then click Continue.
  3. Continue with the interview process until you reach the screen titled E-filing - Topics, then click Print Return and E-file Documents
  4. On the screen titled E-filing - Print, click the Click here link. The preparer may get instructions by clicking Print Selected Items.
