Error Checking Out Online Return

If you encounter an error when trying to check out a client return, it may be due to one of the following issues:

  • The file's Read-Only attribute is enabled.
  • The file has become corrupt.
  • The TaxAct program cannot locate the file.
  • The file has been deleted.

How to Deselect the Read-Only Attribute

  1. Close the TaxAct program or webpage.
  2. Click the Search field on your taskbar, type "File Explorer", and open it.
  3. Navigate to the file that won’t open.
  4. Right-click the file and select Properties.
  5. In the Properties window, uncheck the Read-Only checkbox (if selected).
  6. Click Apply, then OK.
