In accordance with IRS guidelines set forth by the IRS Safeguards Program and the Security Summit, TaxAct Professional account passwords now expire every 90 days. If you recently received an e-mail notifying you that your password will expire within seven days, you may follow the instructions below to reset your password prior to expiration:

  1. Click the URL, or copy and paste it in your Internet browser.
  2. On that web page, click Sign In to access your TaxAct Account.
  3. Once signed in, click the My Preferences tile.
  4. Click Manage next to your password under the Sign In Settings section.
  5. Enter your new password information, then click Update Password.

If your password has already expired, you may click the Forgot username or password? link on the Sign In page and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the password reset process.
