Professional Editions - Updating Return Status, Payment Status, or Assigned Preparers

To edit Return Information for a client:

  1. From within your TaxAct Professional Edition program, on the Client Manager screen, Right-click the return you want to edit, then click Edit Client Information.
  2. In the window that appears, scroll down to the Return Information section, and you can edit the Preparer, Return Status, Payment Status, Amount Paid, Date Delivered, and check or uncheck Locked for editing.
  3. When you are done, click Save and Close.

To edit Return Information for multiple clients at once:

  1. From within your TaxAct Professional Edition program, on the Client Manager screen, click a return you want to edit, then use your keyboard to ctrl + click more returns to select more than one. You can also click a return you want to edit, then use your keyboard to shift + click another return, and all of the returns in between will be selected too.
  2. Once you have made your selection (the returns you want to edit are highlighted), Right-click one of the returns, and click one of the options that appear.  Your options that pertain to Return Information include Edit Client(s) Return Status, Edit Client(s) Billing Information, Assign Preparer, and Lock Return(s).
  3. If you click Lock Return(s), the program will lock them, and you are done.
  4. If you click one of the other options, a window will appear.  Click the Dropdown, click the option you want, then click Save.
