Using the American Express Serve® Card for Your Tax Refund

If you choose to have your tax refund deposited onto a Serve® prepaid debit card, you can enjoy a secure, flexible, and easy way to access your funds. The Serve® card is accepted anywhere American Express® Cards are accepted, and offers a range of benefits.

Load cash at over 45,000 participating retailers, such as CVS, Walmart, Family Dollar, and 7-Eleven.
Free reloads are available with the Serve® Free Reloads card. Other card types may have fees.
Deposit checks using Ingo™ Money through the Serve® Mobile App (available through the App Store or Google Play).

Identification and Information Required
Federal law requires American Express to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who applies for a Card to fight terrorism and money laundering. When you choose Serve as your refund method, American Express will ask for the following:
Full Name
Street Address
Date of Birth
Identification Number (e.g., SSN)
Email Address
Mobile Phone Number
Activation
To activate your Serve® card:
Open the activation email with the subject: Please Set Up Your Online Account.
Enter your Date of Birth and Social Security Number.
