PDF Print Area Smaller Than Page

When your return/form appears to not be printing full size, this may be due to Windows display settings or Adobe Reader settings.

First try this:

  1. Close Adobe Reader and the TaxAct program.
  2. Right-click the TaxAct program icon (desktop shortcut).
  3. Click Properties, then click Compatibility.
  4. In the Settings area, check Disable display scaling on high DPI settings.
    On Windows 10, the setting may say Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by: -- check this box, then on the drop-down below, first try the "System" option.
  5. Click Apply to save the changes, then close the Properties dialog window.

You can also check the display settings for Windows 10 and 11 and change them in general for your computer, or try this if you are using the online version of TaxAct:

  1. Right-click on an empty space on the desktop.
  2. On the context menu, select Screen resolution.
  3. Click the Make text and other items larger or smaller link.
  4. In the Settings under "Make it easier to read what's on your screen," check an option other than Larger - 150%.

If you make this change, you will need to reboot your computer.

If the previous suggestions do not work, or you are using TaxAct Online, check your Adobe Reader settings. With Adobe Reader open, select any print command. On the Print dialog box that opens, under the "Page Size & Handling" settings, check:

  • Size: "either Fit or scale to 100%"
  • Poster: "no option selected"
  • Multiple: "no option selected"
  • Booklet: "no option selected"
