Export and Download CSV Files from Accounting Software

Export or download a CSV file from QuickBooks, Sage One, Wave, or Xero by following these steps.

Before importing, confirm your account balances.

QuickBooks

  1. Click Reports.
  2. From the drop-down, select Trial Balance report.
  3. Select the period covered by the tax return.
  4. Click Export.
  5. Select the radio button in front of a comma separated value (CSV) file.
  6. Click Export.
  7. Save the file to your desktop by selecting Save As Desktop, include "Trial Balance" and the year-end date in the file name.

Sage – One (Online)

  1. Click the Report tab.
  2. Select trial balance.
  3. Select date as of 12/31/XXXX.
  4. Select update report.
  5. Select export to CSV to export a CSV file (Your report will open in a spreadsheet program).
  6. Save the file to your desktop by selecting "Save as desktop", include “Trial Balance” and the year-end date in the file name.

Wave

  1. Select Reports from the left menu bar.
  2. Select Trial Balance Report.
  3. Select the date range for this report, From (Beginning of year) and To (End of year), then click update.
  4. Select CSV to export to a CSV file. (Your report will now open in a spreadsheet program).
  5. Save the file to your desktop by selecting "Save as desktop", include “Trial Balance” and the year-end date in the file name.

Xero

  1. Click the Advisor tab (which is only visible if your permissions are set as an Advisor. You can change your permission settings by going to Settings > Users).
  2. Click Export.
  3. Click TaxAct.
  4. Select the date "12/31/XXXX(year)".
  5. Click Download.
  6. The file will automatically save to your default download folder.
