Export and Download CSV Files from Accounting Software

For instructions on exporting or downloading a .CSV file from specific accounting software, review the instructions for your software product below.

Note. You should confirm your account balances before proceeding with the import.

QuickBooks

  1. Select Reports
  2. From the drop down list select Trial Balance report
  3. Select the period covered by the tax return
  4. Select Export
  5. Select the radio button in front of a comma separated value (CSV) file
  6. Select the export button
  7. Save the file to your desktop by selecting save as desktop, include "Trial Balance" and the year-end date in the file name

Sage – One (Online)

  1. Select Report tab
  2. Select trial balance
  3. Select date as of 12/31/XXXX
  4. Select update report
  5. Select export to CSV to export a CSV file (Your report will open in a spreadsheet program)
  6. Save the file to your desktop by selecting save as desktop, include “Trial Balance” and the year-end date in the file name

Wave

  1. Select Reports from the left menu bar
  2. Select Trial Balance Report
  3. Select the date range for this report, From (Beginning of year) & To (End of year), select update
  4. Select CSV to export to a CSV file.  (Your report will now open in a spreadsheet program)
  5. Save the file to your desktop by selecting save as desktop, include “Trial Balance” and the year-end date in the file name

Xero

  1. Select Advisor tab (the Advisor tab is only visible if your permissions are set as an Advisor. You can change your permission settings by going to Settings>Users)
  2. Select Export
  3. Select TaxAct®
  4. Select the date 12/31/XXXX(year)
  5. Select Download
  6. The file will automatically save to your default download folder
