If you need to submit supporting documentation (i.e. a statement or qualified appraisal) for Form 8283 Noncash Charitable Contributions, you are still able to e-file your return; however, you will need to complete and mail Form 8453 U.S. Individual Income Tax Transmittal for an IRS e-file Return, along with the supporting documentation, to the IRS.
First, complete the TaxAct® Q&A interview for charitable contributions (see the following steps). If you provide information for an appraisal (or another statement) in the interview, you will be prompted to print Form 8453 when you electronically file the return, after you are prompted to print your Federal return.
Attach the supporting documentation to Form 8453 and mail this information to the IRS according to the instructions on the screen and in the Federal Electronic Filing Instructions (which can be viewed or printed later in the e-file screens).
Form 8453 (with the required forms or supporting documents) must be mailed to the IRS within three business days after receiving acknowledgment that the return was accepted. An electronically transmitted return will not be considered complete until Form 8453 is received by the IRS.
