Form 5329 - Entering in Program

Use Form 5329 to report additional taxes on:
  • IRAs
  • Other qualified retirement plans
  • Modified endowment contracts
  • Coverdell ESAs
  • QTPs
  • Archer MSAs
  • HSAs
  • ABLE accounts
To enter, review, or delete information for Form 5329, follow the steps below. 

Online
Dashboard
  1. From within your TaxAct return, click Taxes & Miscellaneous. 
    • On smaller devices, click the menu at the top left corner of your screen, then make your selection. 
  2. Expand the Additional Tax Payments section.
  3. Click Add beside Additional Taxes on Qualified Retirement Plans
  4. Click Review next to the topic you want to edit or review.
Classic
  1. From within your TaxAct return, click Federal.
    • On smaller devices, click the menu at the top left corner of your screen, then make your selection. 
  2. Click the Retirement Plan Income drop-down, then click [NAME] Additional taxes on qualified plans (Form 5329).
  3. Click Review next to the topic you want to edit or review.
Desktop
  1. From within your TaxAct return, click Federal.
  2. Click the Retirement Plan Income drop-down, then click [NAME] Additional taxes on qualified plans (Form 5329).
  3. Click Review next to the topic you want to edit or review.
