If you are attempting to mail a paper return and the instruction letter is indicating the return will be e-filed, you can change this information:

  1. Double-click the client in the Client Manager list to open the return.
  2. Click Preparer in the top menu list.
  3. Click Instruction Letter.
  4. Click Edit Client Copy.
  5. Click Federal.
  6. In the Federal Client Instruction Letter, the fourth bullet down, make sure If a paper return will be filed do not enter e-file date (above) to indicate paper filing is checked.

After doing this, you can print the instruction letter with the details to mail a paper return.
