Schedule A (Form 1040) - Entering Itemized or Standard Deductions in Program

To enter or review the information in the Itemized Deductions section of the Q&A:

  1. From within your TaxAct® return (Online or Desktop), click Federal. On smaller devices, click the menu icon in the upper left-hand corner, then select Federal
  2. Click Itemized or Standard Deductions to expand the category and then click All itemized deductions topics
  3. Proceed through the interview screens reviewing or modifying the information listed
  4. On the screen Itemized Deductions - Summary you will see the comparison of the total itemized deductions and the standard deduction for the return. The TaxAct program will use the greater of the two in order to provide you the greater benefit on the return. You do have the option on the screen to force the return to use the other option if necessary.
