Filing Status - Entering in Program

To select or change your filing status in the TaxAct program, follow the steps below. 

Online
Dashboard
  1. From within your TaxAct return, click About. 
    • On smaller devices, click the menu at the top left corner of your screen, then make your selection.
  2. Click the Edit beside your name.
  3. Continue with the interview until you reach the Let’s confirm your relationship status screen and make your selection.
Classic
  1. From within your TaxAct return, click Basic Info. 
    • On smaller devices, click the menu at the top left corner of your screen, then make your selection.
  2. Click Edit beside Marital Status and select the appropriate option. 
Alternatively, go to Federal > Basic Information > Filing Status to make your selection. 

Desktop
  1. From within your TaxAct return, click Federal. 
  2. Click the Basic Information drop-down, then click Filing Status.
  3. Make your selection and continue with the rest of the interview process.
