Filing Status - Entering in Program

To select or change your filing status in the TaxAct® program:

  1. From within your TaxAct return (Online or Desktop), click Federal (on smaller devices, click in the top left corner of your screen, then click Federal).
  2. Click the Basic Information dropdown, then click Filing status.
  3. Select your filing status, and continue with the interview process to enter your information.

Note. If you are not sure of the appropriate filing status for your situation, click the TaxTutor Guidance link on the right, then click Filing Status to help you identify the appropriate filing status.
