The TaxAct® software automatically selects the correct form to file at the end of the return process. When entering information, the program will always start the return with the most basic form. As information is entered, the program will determine which form you are eligible to file. It does this to prevent users from filing incorrectly based on their tax scenario and qualifications, which would possibly delay their refund or cause the return to be rejected.
If you wish to use a version other than the one that has been selected by the program, follow the instructions below.
Note. If the return does not qualify to file on one of the less complex forms then this option will not be available and the return will use the more complex form automatically.
If your return is currently using a Federal Form 1040-EZ and you would like to use Federal Form 1040 or Federal Form 1040A instead:
