Filing Status - Head of Household - Clear Qualifying Person Imported Information

If there was a name entered on the prior year return that was allowed the taxpayer to qualify for the Head of Household filing status, this information will be imported into the current year’s return. If it is no longer needed/accurate, there are two ways to update the information:
  1. Change the Filing Status selection. Once the filing status is changed, the Qualifying Person's information will no longer appear in the interview. See Filing Status - Entering in Program for details.
  2. Add a dependent to the return. Once the Dependent is added, the Qualifying Person's information will not be in the interview. See Dependents - Entering Information in Program for details.
Note. The Qualifying Person's information will not be in the Q&A interview, will not print on Form 1040, and not be transmitted with the e-filed return submission.
