TaxAct offers professional preparers the option to electronically file client returns in batches. To do this, you can choose to submit your client returns later, then E-file the client returns all at once.

To save a return for later:

  1. From within your TaxAct Professional Edition program, Double-click the client return you want to save for later.
  2. Click Q&A in the options bar, click Filing, click the Circle next to E-File, then click Continue.
  3. During the electronic filing process, click Submit Later (if you pay for e-filing per return, your credit card is charged at this time).

TaxAct will indicate that the e-file record has been created. The file destination (XX represents the last two digits of the tax year) for the return you saved for later is here on your desktop: C:\TaxACT\TaxACT 20XX Professional Edition\Client Data\[Practice ID]\EFILES (or EFiles)

If you use TaxAct Enterprise Editions and save to the TaxAct Servers, the file destination (XX represents the last two digits of the tax year) for the return you saved for later is here on your desktop: C:\TaxACT\TaxACT 20XX Professional Edition\Client Data\[Practice ID]\Online\EFILES (or EFiles)

If a return is modified after you chose to submit later, you must go through the filing steps again to choose to submit it later because the previous e-file record has been replaced.

When you are ready to send the returns that you designated to submit later:

  1. From within your TaxAct Professional Edition program, click Preparer in the upper menu bar, then click Submit Client E-Files.
  2. Click the Checkbox next to the returns that you would like to submit for e-filing, or click the Checkbox next to Select All (you can also delete returns that you chose to submit later on this screen).
  3. Click Submit.
