Massachusetts - Retirement Systems Contributions

If you reside in Massachusetts, and have made contributions to certain, state-approved retirement accounts, you may be able to deduct the amount of some or all of those contributions on your tax return. You can use TaxAct to claim deductions for state-approved retirement contributions in Massachusetts.


To use TaxAct to claim tax deductions for contributions to a Massachusetts retirement account:
  1. Sign in to your TaxAct account, then click the My Tax Returns tile.
  2. Locate the relevant return, then click Open Return in the Actions column for that return.
  3. In the left navigation bar, click State > Massachusetts.
  4. In the MassachusettsQuick Q&A Topics panel, click Miscellaneous Topics > Retirement Systems Contributions.
  5. On the Massachusetts - Retirement screen, enter the appropriate amount in the Your retirement systems contributions field, then click Continue.
