Georgia - Form IT-QEE-TP2 - Tax Credit for Qualified Education Expenses
1

The process of applying for the qualified education expense credit involves three Georgia tax forms, which should be completed in the following order:

  1. Georgia Form IT-QEE-TP1 Qualified Education Expense Credit Preapproval Form
  2. Georgia Form IT-QEE-SSO1 Qualified Education Expense Credit Letter of Confirmation
  3. Georgia Form IT-QEE-TP2 Qualified Education Expense Credit Computation

The Qualified Education Expense Credit Preapproval Form is not part of the tax return, and is therefore not available in the TaxAct® program. The taxpayer should complete and file this form separately

The Qualified Education Expense Credit Letter of Confirmation is completed by the Student Scholarship Organization (SSO) and provided to the taxpayer to attach to the return. If the taxpayer is paper filing, it should be attached to the return. If the taxpayer is filing electronically, the form does not need to be submitted, but should be maintained by the taxpayer and made available upon request of the Commissioner. See the instructions at the bottom of Georgia Form IT-QEE-TP1 for more information.

The Qualified Education Expense Credit Computation form is supported in the TaxAct program. The form is completed by the taxpayer in the appropriate section of the Georgia Q&A interview. The information entered will populate Georgia Form IT-QEE-TP2. If there is a credit calculated, it will flow to Georgia Schedule 2 and then to Line 20 of Georgia Form 500. If you are electronically filing your return, the information is submitted with the filing. If you choose to paper file the return, the form will print as part of the return.
