When you enter your state withholdings from your W-2, they automatically transfer to Schedule A as an itemized deduction and do not need to be entered again in the program.

  1. From within your TaxAct® return (Online or Desktop) click Federal. On smaller devices, click the menu icon in the upper left-hand corner, then select Federal
  2. Click Itemized or Standard Deductions in the Federal Quick Q&A Topics menu to expand the category and then click Taxes Paid
  3. On the screen titled Enter state and local income taxes you paid during 2019 you will see the state withholdings from your W-2. There is also a field on this screen for other taxes. If the state withholdings were entered again inadvertently, you can delete them.
