To report your state and/or local income taxes paid (NOT withholding or estimated tax payments), follow the steps below. The TaxAct program will transfer this information, and state taxes withheld on Form W-2, to Schedule A (Form 1040)Itemized Deductions, Line 5.

Dashboard
From within your TaxAct return, click Deductions & Credits.
On smaller devices, click the menu at the top left corner of your screen, then make your selection.
Click the Estimates & Other Taxes Paid drop-down.
Click Add beside Deductible Taxes Paid.
Enter the amount in Other state and local income taxes paid.
Complete the rest of the interview process.
Classic
From within your TaxAct return, click Federal.

Click the Itemized or Standard Deductions drop-down, then click Taxes paid.
Enter the amount in Other state and local income taxes paid.
Complete the rest of the interview process.
