Although you cannot enter information from Form 1099-B Proceeds From Broker and Barter Exchange Transactions directly on Schedule D Capital Gains and Losses, the steps listed below may help to streamline the entry process for TaxAct Desktop (download) customers:

The information to be entered on Form 8949 and Schedule D is entered on Form 1099-B in TaxAct. The appropriate number of forms will be submitted with your e-file and/or printed with your return based on your entries and the IRS instructions for Form 8949 and Schedule D. A maximum of 2,000 Forms 1099-B may be entered in TaxAct. 

Desktop/Download Users:

  1. Click the Forms icon in the toolbar
  2. Expand the Federal Forms view, and then expand the Documents Received view
  3. Scroll down and double-click Form 1099-B - Capital Gains Transactions
  4. Upgrade is required.  Click Add.  Choose Entry Method of information.
  5. Enter the information for the first Form 1099-B
  6. Click the New Copy icon on the left side of the toolbar which is immediately above the form (it looks like a piece of paper with writing on it) to start a second form.
