Import Conversion

TaxAct is able to convert a PDF file (from TaxAct or other tax programs) into your TaxAct program (Desktop or Online).

The program will also import:

  • The previous year's (2019) TaxAct Online return into the current year's (2020) TaxAct Online return
  • The previous year's (2019) TaxAct Desktop return into the current year's (2020) TaxAct Desktop return
  • The previous year's (2019) TaxAct Desktop return into the current year's (2020) TaxAct Online return

Unfortunately, a TaxAct Online return from one year cannot be imported into a TaxAct Desktop return in the next year except through a PDF import.

TaxAct does support importing from Gainskeeper.com, TradeLog, or a CSV file for stock information with a maximum of 2000 transactions allowed. The program does not support any kind of conversion from Quicken or Quickbooks into our TaxAct products.
