If the taxpayer has rolled over all or a portion of a distribution from a retirement account to another retirement account, the word "ROLLOVER" will print on IRS Form 1040.
If the distribution is from an IRA:
The text "ROLLOVER" will print in the left hand margin by Line 15a
The total distribution will appear on Line 15a
The taxable amount of the distribution will appear on Line 15b
If the total distribution was rolled over, no amount will be reported on Line 15b as taxable
If the distribution is from a retirement plan other than an IRA:
The text "ROLLOVER" will print in the left hand margin by Line 16a
The total distribution will appear on Line 16a
The taxable amount of the distribution will appear on Line 16b
If the total distribution was rolled over, no amount will be reported on Line 16b as taxable
To enter or review your Form 1099-R entries:
From within your TaxAct® return (Online or Desktop), click on the Federal tab. On smaller devices, click in the upper left-hand corner, then select Federal.
Click Retirement Plan Income to expand the category and then click IRA, 401(k), and pension plan distributions (Form 1099-R)
Click Add to create a new copy of the form or Review to review a form already created
The program will proceed with the interview questions for you to enter or review the appropriate information
