TaxAct® has developed a worksheet to assist you with the preparation of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online application. Based on the information entered into TaxAct (and the additional information entered in the FAFSA section) the FAFSA Tax Summary Worksheet will provide you with the applicable income tax information needed for you to complete the FAFSA online application at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa. Please have your tax return completed in TaxAct before filling out the FAFSA Summary Worksheet to ensure an accurate estimate.

To access the College Student Financial Aid Report (the worksheet with the tax information needed to fill out the FAFSA online application), follow the steps below.

Online

Dashboard

  1. From within your TaxAct return, click Review.
    • On smaller devices, click the menu at the top left corner of your screen, then make your selection.
  2. Below Review, click College Student Financial Aid.
  3. Complete the interview process. At the end, click Print Report.

Classic

  1. From within your TaxAct return, click the Review drop-down, then click College Student Financial Aid.
    • On smaller devices, click the menu at the top left corner of your screen, then make your selection.
  2. Click Yes, let's get started, then continue with the interview process to enter your information.
  3. On the screen titled FAFSA Interview Complete, click Print report to generate a paper copy of the FAFSA Summary Report.

Desktop

  1. From within your TaxAct return, click the Review drop-down, then click College Student Financial Aid.
  2. Click Yes then continue with the interview process to enter your information.
  3. On the screen titled FAFSA Interview Complete, click Print report to generate a paper copy of the FAFSA Summary Report.

The FAFSA online application can be completed with the information you have in the printed report from TaxAct. For specific questions regarding FAFSA, call the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1 (800) 433-3243.
