The IRS Modernized e-File (MeF) Internet Filing webpage allows you to receive notification of Federal acceptance or rejection almost instantaneously. When a return is transmitted through the MeF system, notifications of acceptance contain a Federal Submission ID (20 digits) instead of a Declaration Control Number (DCN) (14 digits).
