Dependents - Adding in Program

Many tax calculations and tax credits are based on the data entered for dependents. Therefore, it is important to accurately enter the dependent information, such as first and last name, social security number, year of birth, relationship, number of months lived with you, etc.

To enter or review your dependents in the TaxAct® program:

  1. From within your TaxAct return (Online or Desktop), click Federal. On smaller devices, click in the upper left-hand corner, then click Federal.
  2. Click Basic Information in the Federal Quick Q&A Topics menu to expand, then click Dependents and other qualifying persons.
  3. Click + Add a Dependent to create a new copy of the form or click Review to review a form already created.
  4. The program will proceed with the interview questions for you to enter or review the appropriate information.
