Capital Gains Reports - Long-Term and Short-Term Reports

In the TaxAct program, the Capital Gain Summary reports provide an easy method to review all of your capital gain transactions during the year. To make your verification task easier, the transactions are broken down between short- and long-term. Each list can be sorted alphabetically (by Description) or chronologically (by Date Acquired or Date Sold). You can clicking the Description of any specific entry to go to the transactions details for that entry for easy modifications or corrections.

To review your short-term and/or long-term capital gains/losses summary report:

  1. From within your TaxAct return (Online or Desktop), click Review to expand, then click Reports. On smaller devices, click in the upper left-hand corner, then click Review.
  2. On the screen titled Capital Gain Summary, click either Short-Term Summary or Long-Term Summary to generate a report.
  3. You can use the Print option in the upper left to print or preview the report. You can sort the information in the report by clicking the columns in blue.
