Texas - Franchise Tax Report
1

Texas allows businesses to reuse many forms instead of using the most recent ones, but the TaxAct program does not support business customers using the TaxAct program to file a return for a different tax year.  You need to use the 2022 TaxAct program to file your 2022 tax return, which includes Form 05-158-A 2023 Texas Franchise Tax Report. Texas labels their forms based on the year you file, instead of the year you are filing for.  2022 taxes are filed in 2023, so Texas labels the forms for 2022.  TaxAct programs are labeled based on the year you are filing for, instead of the year you file.  The TaxAct 2022 program is for filing 2022 taxes, which are filed in 2023.

If you need to file a prior year on the 2023 report, you will need to use the forms and instructions available on the Texas Franchise Tax Forms website.

If you need to file a prior year on the same prior year report, you can go to our Access Prior Year Tax Returns webpage to find the prior year TaxAct program that you need.

Note that any link in the information above is updated each year automatically and will take you to the most recent version of the webpage or document at the time it is accessed.
