Tax Audit Defense can be added or removed within the filing steps in the TaxAct® program. 

TaxAct Online users can go directly to this screen using the following steps:

  1. From within your TaxAct Online return, click My Return in the upper right hand corner of the screen
  2. Scroll down and click on the link labeled My Return Details
  3. Scroll down and click on the link labeled My Return Fees and then click Pay Now
  4. Click on the Add or Remove button next to Tax Audit Defense line

If you are a TaxAct Desktop user, click the Filing tab and continue through the submission steps until you reach the billing screen. This screen will appear during the Review Info section of the filing process. Click Add or Remove next to Tax Audit Defense fee to change your selection.
