If you don't know the answer to the security questions presented during the password reset process, follow these steps:

  1. Attempt to answer it 5 times until you get the message that you are temporarily locked out
  2. Wait 15 minutes and try again (there are three questions, so you will get a different question the next time you attempt to reset your password if it is within 60 minutes)


  • You must provide the security answer exactly as it was entered when you created the account. (Example: if you spell out "Street" in your answer, the abbreviation "St" will not be accepted.)
  • Double check that you're using the correct username. Mistyping usernames is a common mistake. 

Note. TaxAct Support representatives do not have access to your security question answers or password, nor do they have access to reset your password.
