Please note that our sign-in process has changed. If you currently have a Customer ID, the first time you sign in with that Customer ID, you will be asked to create a Username.
If you have forgotten the Customer ID or Password to your TaxAct Desktop account, you may still gain access to your account by following these easy steps.
Go to the Sign-In page for your TaxAct Desktop account.
Click on the appropriate link to obtain your Customer ID or reset your Password. To retrieve your Customer ID, you will click on the Forgot Username link. To reset the Password, you will click on the Forgot Password link.
When clicking on the Forgot Username link, you will enter the e-mail address on the account and click on the Send Email button. You will then want to click on the Return to Sign In button.
You will receive an e-mail that contains any Customer IDs or Usernames associated with your e-mail address. Please note: Customer IDs will be listed as Usernames in the e-mail, even if you have not updated your account.
If you need to reset the Password, you will click on the Forgot Password link.
If you have not yet updated your account from a Customer ID to a Username, you will need to click on the Forgot Customer ID Password link. (If you have already updated your account and created a Username, you will enter it and click on the blue Continue button.)
If you need to click the Forgot Customer ID Password link, you will be asked to enter the Customer ID and the verification code displayed on the screen below. (If you enter your Username and hit the Continue button you will receive a message indicating "Your TaxAct Password reset email has been sent.")
Follow the instructions in the e-mail and click the link provided. If the link does not work, you may need to copy the entire web address and paste into your browser's address bar.
Enter your new password and confirm it in the Re-Type New Password field. Click the Reset Password button to complete the process.
You may now sign into your account using your Customer ID and Password. If you have not already done so, you will be prompted to update your account. You can use your Customer ID as a username or create a new username.
