Donation Assistant is a useful way to calculate the Fair Market Value (FMV) of donated items, such as items donated to Goodwill, Salvation Army, or any other charitable or non-profit organizations. This calculator provides certified resale values for over 1,300 items, so you can accurately determine the value of your donated items and maximize your deduction.

Follow the steps below to locate and use Donation Assistant:

1. From within your TaxAct return (Online or Desktop), click Federal (on smaller devices, click in the top left corner of your screen, then click Federal).
2. Click the Itemized or Standard Deductions dropdown, then click Charitable contributions.
3. Continue with the interview process until you reach the screen titled Did you make any noncash contributions?, then click Yes.
4. Click Donation Assistant to open in a new window, and calculate the value of your items.
